Seeking God's Presence

One moment in the presence of God can change everything. We pursue the presence of God in all we do.

James 4:8

Come near to God and he will come near to you.

Mark 5:25-34

25And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years.26She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.27When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak,28because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.”29Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.

30 At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”

31 “You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ”

32 But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. 33 Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. 34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

Authentic Worship

We were made to worship. While this may look different for each of us, our worship is spirit-filled and authentic.

John 4:23

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

Humility and Forgiveness

Following Jesus means following his example of humility and forgiveness. We forgive others because Christ first forgave us.

James 4:6

But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.

Ephesians 4:3

Be kind and tenderhearted to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you.

Protecting Unity

Unity is at the core of who God is. We don't gossip; we speak life; we don't tear down; we build up. We each play our role in protecting the Body of Christ.

John 17:22-23

I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one- I in them and you in me- so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

Ephesians 4:3

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Running After Others

God-honoring relationships require commitment and sacrifice. We actively pursue authentic relationships no matter the cost.

John 15:13

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.

John 13:35

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

Contributing not Consuming

God created each of us for a purpose. We commit ourselves to actively contributing to growing God's Kingdom.

Matthew 6:33

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Mercy and Justice

Mercy and justice are at the heart of the mission of God. We're committed to helping hurting people (mercy) as well as addressing the cause of that hurt (justice).

Micah 6:8

He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

Teaching Pastor

Chris Auer

Pastor Chris Auer is the teaching pastor of Risen Life Church. His driving passion is to lead others into an intimate relationship with Jesus and equip others to become a disciple of Jesus.

Coming from an engineering background in the medical device field, Chris holds an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and is pursuing a master of divinity degree at Bethel Seminary. Chris and his wife Marissa look forward to seeing God's Kingdom grow in their community.

Worship Pastor

Taylor Williams

Taylor Williams is the worship pastor at Risen Life Church. Taylor's passion for worship comes from the knowledge that we were all made to worship God. 

Taylor holds a Bachelor's degree in Biblical & Theological Studies, a Master's degree in Education, and a Doctorate in Administration at Bethel University. Taylor and his wife Mikayla believe that lives can be transformed by the Holy Spirit, as they seek to lead others into a place of worshiping God in the Spirit and in truth.

I’m passionate about finding ways to identify and eliminate barriers that prevent the full participation of black, brown and other historically marginalized people. As a former world class track and field athlete, I’m also passionate sharing the many gifts God has given to me with student athletes.

Serving on the Pastor Advisory Team allows me to exercise servant leadership, live out the will of God, and advance the kingdom of God while prioritizing the growth and wellbeing of others.

I love anything that gets me outside. I'm passionate about using the outdoors to help slow down, reflect, and know God more.

For a pastor, guiding the direction of a church comes with a lot of weight. As a member of the Pastor Advisory Team, I am grateful for the opportunity to bear some of that weight and help uphold the spiritual health of our pastors.

One of the main things I'm passionate about is serving others. I have the opportunity to do this as a nurse in bone marrow transplant.

I enjoy serving on the Pastor Advisory Team because it creates a space for me to help, support, and serve church leaders and Risen Life Church as a whole so that together we can see God’s kingdom come to earth as it is in heaven.

I am passionate about discipling others to be Jesus followers and understand God's amazing Words in the Bible. I really enjoy leading small groups and seeing people grow in Christ.

Being on the Pastor Advisory Team is important to me because it's a wonderful way to support Pastor Chris and help lead the Risen Life Church family.

Our Beliefs

Risen Life Church is a part of the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church. The Covenant Church has a passion for seeing people engage in a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, across more populations, in a more caring and just world. They have six affirmations that help define the views and ethos of the denomination:
